Ear piercing types part II

The Pinna Piercing ( Helix ) is found on the cartilage edge along the top part of the ear. Generally a tiny diameter pinna piercingBall Closure Ring may be employed for this piercing. Even the labret or barbell can be ‘micro’ jewelry ( at 1mm or 1.2mm gauge ), and needn’t be any bigger than 8mm.

Healing Time: 8 - 16 weeks

The Forward Pinna ( forward Helix ) is the start of the carat that starts at the pinnacle of the ear, by the side of forward helix piercingthe head. This is usually a slim strip of cartilage, as it is near to the side of the head, and can take micro jewelry ( 1mm to 1.2mm gauge ) very well. These include Ball Closure rings of 6mm and curved barbells, labrets or straight barbells of 6mm in length.

Healing Time: 8 - 16 weeks

Rook is the highest fold of cartilage, underneath the Helix. Ensure that there’s enough cartilage to support rook piercintthe jewelry easily. If a shallow Rook is pierced with large gauge jewelry, the jewelry has a higher possibility of migrating ( but a thin gauge, or Micro, jewelry can migrate quicker ).

Ball Closure Rings, Curved Barbells or PTFE Barbells are advocated for this piercing.

Healing Time: 8 - 16 weeks

The scaffold piercing is 2 or more separate edge ( or cartilage ) piercings that are joined byscaffold piercing
one barbell. This process can be performed as separate piercings with separate jewelry and permitted to heal individually ; but may also be fitted with one PTFE barbell, which may reduce the quantity of stress placed on the composition of the cartilage itself. The piercer should scrupulously mark and plan the piercing so that the gauge is acceptable for all of the tissue it travels though . 1.6mm gauge is maybe the smartest choice.

Healing Time: 8 - 16 weeks

The Snug piercing
is found thru the inner cartilage, halfway down the outer edge of the ear, above the anti-tragus. Snug piercingMostly this area is sort of shallow, and micro jewelry is frequently used. Again curved barbells are superior and need only be one or two millimetres longer than the thickness of the cartilage.

Healing Time: 8 - 16 weeks

The tragus is the difficult fold of cartilage that sticks out, away from the ear, at the entrance to the ear canal. The tragus can vary in size and thickness from individual to individual and so it can take micro jewelry or 1.6 gauge standard jewelry, though the Ball Closure Rings and labrets, or barbells can still be quite short at 6mm to 8mm.

Healing Time: 8 - 16 weeks
