Info on “The Bump”

What it seems like :
A small red or white pimple-like bump diagonally opposite to one of the entry holes of the piercing. ear piercing bump

Why it occurs :
The Bump occurs for a couple of reasons, including injury to the piercing ( like being hit ), unacceptable aftercare ( permitting bacteria to grow ), irritation to the piercing, and occasionally it occurs for no reason that you can recall.

How long it lasts and the way to get shot of it :
How long it stays relies upon how you care for it. Doing sea salt soaks and hot compresses will help draw the pus and impurities out, and permit it to fix on its own. Adding 1 or 2 drops of tea tree oil to sea salt soaks can be advantageous. Never put concentrated tea tree oil near a piercing. If the Bump isn’t sorted it can last days, weeks or maybe months.

Popping the Bump :
don’t pop the bump. It regularly causes scar tissue, and more frequently than not the bump will come back.

Don’t use these products the Bump : Aspirin paste, alcohol, bactine, peroxide and any other oppressive chemical or product will damage the piercing. Even using it next to the piercing can damage a piercing. Neosporin and other oily topical salve are fully innapropriate near puncture injuries ( a piercing ) and can attract mud and bacteria from the environment. Ointments also do not permit the area to breath, which can impede healing.

How to bypass the Bump :
Get pierced at a credible piercer, with acceptable jewelry ( this implies CBRs for nostrils, not screws or bones ) and use acceptable aftercare.
Employing a good soap will help also.

Keloid or Bump? :
Keloids are scar tissue formations that are sometimes confused with the bump. Keloids are much more rare than the standard bump ( particularly for light-skinned people ), and don’t casually heal without treatment. Steroid treatments and surgical removal are common treatments. If you suspect you’ll have a keloid check with a doctor. Get a second opinion before treatment because some doctors are too green with piercings to understand the difference.
