Stretching aftercare issues
The bigger your holes get the more dead skin, moisture, bacteria, and dust can collect in them. This pungent, oily substance which forms ( called sebum ) must be cleaned out on a constant basis. To scrub, take out your jewelry, wash your skin and the jewelry with anti-bacterial soap, and then dry comprehensively.
Discover how to take care of your jewelry-some have to be oiled, others can’t get wet, and others need their own, unique care.
If you tear a piercing during stretching, you’ll usually know right away. You may frequently get some bleeding, and the piece that was so problematical to push through a moment ago all of a sudden slides simply. If this occurs, soak the piercing in warm non-iodized salt water for a couple of days, till it appears better. Once it’s no longer scabbing or crusty, start massaging the skin with jojoba oil, vitamin E or cocoa butter many times a day. This could speed healing and melt any developing scar tissue.
A blow-out is an uneven distribution of skin and / or scar tissue from stretching too far too quickly. It may look like your piercing is turned inside-out. The soaking and massaging techniques explained above will turn out to be handy here, but you’ll still finish up with permanent scar tissue. Once healed, start your next stretch from the opposite side, so you are “tucking in” the surplus tissue. And if you do tear or blow-out your holes, take it as a reminder to stretch slower next time. Good luck!
